When the right- sided pul- monary veins connect to the inferior vena cava (IVC), this is called a scimitar vein

- Most common form of PAPVC is where the left upper pulmonary vein drains into the left innominate vein to ultimately drain into the right atrium.
- Other forms of PAPVC include pulmonary veins draining into the SVC, coronary sinus, IVC, or azygous veins.
- Left-sided PAPVR has been reported to be found more often in adults, whereas right-sided PAPVR is reported more commonly in children
- The left upper lobe vein anomaly is thought to be most common.
