How much blood to be removed?
Removal of 250 to 500 mL of blood over 30 to 45 minutes should be performed with concomitant quantitative volume replacement.
The procedure may be repeated every 24 hours if necessary until symptomatic improvement occurs or the hemoglobin level has fallen below 18 to 19 g/dL.
